A man has been jailed for 18 months after trying to raid a cash drawer at a Birmingham Airport hotel – a few months after stealing equipment from an ambulance. Tyrone McDermott jumped over the front desk at the Etap Hotel on July 20 but left empty handed after he was disturbed by staff.
Last Christmas Eve, the 30-year-old stole a computer, navigation systems and mobile phones from a parked ambulance. He received a 12-month prison sentence suspended for 1 year for the offence in April at Birmingham Crown Court. This week the same court jailed him for 18 months after hearing he had struck again at the airport hotel - and also at a petrol station and supermarket - during the suspended period.
