Thousands of Scots will start the new year with a holiday while record numbers of tourists fly in for Hogmanay, easyJet has said. The budget airline will fly 44,000 people out of the country in the next week, an 8% rise on the same week last year.
There is also a rise in the number of passengers flying with the airline to Scotland for New Year, with 15,000 people flying into Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness and Glasgow on easyJet flights this week.
More than 4 million passengers have flown with easyJet from Scottish airports this year. The festive season is one of its busiest periods, with 45,000 Scots flying home with the airline before Christmas.
