Climate change campaigners are staging a protest at Edinburgh Airport today to highlight the problem of carbon emissions from the aviation industry. Local branches of the World Development Movement and Friends of the Earth are holding the event as part of a bid to get the Government to include aviation and shipping in a Climate Change Bill currently going through Parliament.
Gillian Wilson of Friends of the Earth Edinburgh said: ‘It is crazy to leave out climate changing emissions from planes and ships from the Climate Change Bill. It is like banning drink-driving but making vodka drinkers exempt.’
