Falling out of the top 10 in July

Having fallen out of the top 10 in June, the Felbridge Hotel Gatwick re-enters the charts in July at number 1. The hotel did well on its own account (people booking the hotel as a named choice), and as a 'lucky dip' hotel (people booking a 3 star hotel at the last minute, and finding out that it was the Felbridge after paying for the hotel).
Based on the strong sales, the Felbridge was also up 4 places in the year to date listings to 6th. However, this was a price driven jump and is probably not sustainable - in other words we don't expect it to stay top for very long.
The other Gatwick Hotel to drop out of the top 10 last month - the Copthorne - also re-entered the charts in July. Having dropped from 10 to outside the 10 in June, it re-entered at 6 this month, which is quite high for this excellent country hotel.
The Russ Hill Hotel was up 4 this month, having dropped 3 last month. The moves were based on availability of rooms at this budget hotel.
Of the fallers, the Europa and the Ramada Plaza's were the most dramatic. The Europa dropped from from 4th in June to outside the top 10 and the Ramada Plaza from top in June to 7th in July. In both cases the fall was caused by a lack of available rooms. For the dates people wanted, either they were not available or their rooms were very expensive. Expect them to be back after the summer peak.
Last months 9 and 10 also dropped out of the chart. Both had only entered the top 10 in July. On a year to date basis the Ramada Plaza leads from the Russ Hill, Hilton, Europa and Le Meridien.
