Scrapping the Glasgow Airport Rail Link left a ‘gaping hole’ in plans to improve passenger access to the airport, managing director, Amanda McMillan, has told MSPs. She wrote to all 129 MSPs outlining her concerns for the business since the link was axed from the SNP's plans last September.
Ms McMillan said that dropping the rail project would leave ‘a gaping hole’ in road and rail access to an airport of ‘national importance’. She asked the MSPs to put pressure on ministers to find ‘alternatives’, and said the rail link remained the airport operator's favoured option.
She added that ground links to the airport were ‘frustrating’, particularly the M8. A Government spokesman said through Transport Scotland it was working with airport operator BAA to ‘identify further enhancements to Glasgow's transport infrastructure to improve connections across the city’.
