A new survey reveals Heathrow Airport hotel prices are among the highest in the country, and are amongst the only hotels where prices increased over the last year. The Hogg Robinson Group hotels survey revealed the average nightly rate for a Heathrow hotel in the first 6 months of this year was £103.87.
Central London had the highest prices in the UK, with an average £154.18. Heathrow and London were the only two UK destinations analysed to have seen an increase in room rates, both up by 1%. Belfast saw the largest decrease, with prices falling by 12%.
HGH said that the increase in Heathrow hotel costs was ‘in part due to the ash cloud leaving travellers stranded at the airport’. However, another survey said the airport hotels did not increase rates during the crisis, preferring instead to increase room occupancy.
