A 76-year-old man has admitted attempting to smuggle 2 kgs of cocaine into the UK via Heathrow. UK Border Agency officers stopped British citizen Derek Orton after he arrived on a flight from Nairobi in to Terminal 5 yesterday with drugs with a street value of £80,000 in his baggage.
Mr Orton, who was born in Alresford, Essex, but has been licing in Kampala, Uganda was charged with attempting to import a Class A drug when he appeared before Uxbridge Magistrates today. He pleaded guilty to the charge and is now due before Isleworth Crown Court on March 25 for sentencing.
