With passenger numbers expected to be around 3m, 2011 has been a busy year for Leeds Bradford Airport, the Telegraph & Argus reports. But not resting on his laurels, the airport's chief executive John Parkin is driving forward plans to make sure 2012 is as good as this year, if not better.
The airport has seen passengers increase by 13% this year, as more routes have been added by airlines, backed up by a £28m redevelopment of the terminal. This has helped make Leeds Bradford the fastest-growing regional airport in the UK and the 16th busiest in the UK.
The next stage of the airport's development is under way, with an £11m project to transform the terminal and improve the passenger experience with a planned pre-summer completion date. This should see passengers up again in 2012, with the target of 5m by 2016 in sight.
