Manchester Airport saw passenger numbers fall again in August, but its decline of 2.8% was its lowest monthly fall for a year. More passengers flew on scheduled international services than last year, but domestic and charter flights both saw falls in passengers, which pushed the overall performance into a negative.
An airport spokesman said the availability of lots of late summer holiday deals and an influx of visitors to bank holiday weekend events in the north west boosted passenger numbers to 2.09m for the month, down just over 60,000 from 2.15m in August 2009.
