Staff at Manchester Airport are not heading pleas to use public transport, new figures reveal. The results of its 2007 employee travel survey show the number driving to work on their own dropped by just 1% compared to 2006, which threatens the airports stated goal of being carbon neutral from their ground operations.
According to the survey, 79% of airport employees travel to work by car, including 69% who travel alone. The number of staff using the bus increased by 1% to 9% and train usage was 3%, up from 2% in 2006. 2% go by bike, 2% walk, 1% use motorcycles and mopeds and 2% come by taxi.
